About the Liquidyne 3-Stage

The Liquidyne 3-Stage pump shaft seal is water lubricated and has a robust design. This makes the seal resistant against rough circumstances. Due to the Condition Monitoring function the lifetime can be predicted and sudden pump failure can be avoided. The seal is used in pumps that process water containing abrasive particles larger than 100 micron and is suited for a pump pressure up to 40 bar.

How it works

The seal can be roughly divided into two functional parts. A grooved bus is pushed over the shaft so that the shaft does not wear out. This section is fitted on the shaft and rotates with the shaft. The package of the housing parts and lip seals is mounted on the pump housing and is stationary.

The Liquidyne uses water to lubricate, flush and cool the seal. The seal can be lubricated by the pump medium, if the size of the abrasive particles is less than 100 micro meters. If the size of the abrasive parts in the pump medium is larger, an external flush is needed. The lip seals run over a partially grooved bush placed over the pump shaft. This bush is coated with a hard metal layer (HML) to maximize the life of the bush. The helical shape of the grooves and the peripheral velocity of the bush create water film between the grooves and the lip seal. Through this film water is transported under the rubber lip seal from the high pressure side wet side to the atmospheric dry side of the seal.
